Welcome to the memorial page for

Carrie Bell

June 17, 1924 ~ August 22, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Carrie Beatrice Bell was born on June 17, 1924 in Memphis Tennessee to James Gooden Sr. and Eldora Hoye, both preceding her in death. She grew up spending time in Tallulah Louisiana and Memphis Tennessee. She adored her mother, grandmother, sisters, aunts and cousins. Carrie was deeply rooted in a Christian home surrounded by strong, dedicated women of Christ.

Arriving in Las Vegas Nevada, Carrie married Phillip E. Bell Sr. on August 22, 1945. Phillip often joked that they were married paying only two bits and a chicken.  Shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, Carrie became a member of Zion United Methodist Church and was an active member in the Ladies of Zion Ministry. She was recently recognized as one of the oldest living members of the church.  A devout Christian, she remained faithful all of her days.

In marriage, Carrie and Phillip were blessed with six children; Florida Murphy (Edward), Phillip E. Bell Junior (preceded in death), Camie Bell, Dianne Bell-Glasco (Robert), Denise Bell and Keith Bell (Katrina). She loved cooking, gardening and taking care of her family.

Carrie worked at the Desert Inn Hotel and Casino as a Housekeeping Inspectress for 25 years. She was a devoted and supportive member of the Bells of Joy Chapter of the order of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Daughters of Isis.

Carrie leaves behind two loving sisters; Alma Whitney and Beneva Smith as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends and family. At the time of her passing she was the oldest member of the Lillie Hardy Anthony Clan. She will continue to be loved and greatly missed by all.  She leaves a message of hope for us to be confident in the Lord at all times.

As we celebrate Carrie’s home going we can surely rest in knowing that as she entered into the loving arms of Jesus with a host angels, family and friends, she heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Well done thy good and faithful servant. Enter into my rest.”  Matthew 25:21
