James Gilbert Brown

James Gilbert Brown, 74, of Las Vegas, NV died May 29, 2017 at the Nathan Adelson Hospice, surrounded by his family. In 1942 Jim was born to James and Paula (Rondeau) Brown in Holyoke, MA.  He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and served in the United States Marine Corp.  He is predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Violet (Kelly). Jim is survived by their son, Navy Captain James E. Brown, daughter-in-law, Navy Commander (Ret.) Nanette (Kinloch), and grandson Konstantine; his sister Bonnie (Brown) West, and his best friend & brother-in-law Doyle “Eddie” West.  He also leaves his longtime companion Terra Davidson, her daughters and their families:  Sunshine, her husband David Lollar, their children Lilyan, Rose, Alice, & Ronnie; Alana English, her children Peyton & TJ; and Alyssa, her husband Jessie Baker, and their children Waken & Jedi.

In 1973, after the birth of his son and the closing of the family business, Brown’s Archery, in Chicopee, MA, Jim moved to Las Vegas.  He began his professional career in refrigeration at The Stardust Hotel, ultimately retiring as Chief Engineer of the Luxor Resort and Casino in 2002.Those close to him will best remember Jim for his gruff wisdom, selfless generosity, and irreverent kindness.  He embodied the meaning of family for generations of his own, and continues to inspire us as proof that from any station in life, a person may rise.  He will be sorely missed.

Arrangements: On Friday morning, June 2nd, family, friends, and others whose lives Jim touched are invited to Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd North.  Visitation 10:00AM.  Prayers 11:00AM.  Interment will follow at Noon, Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 7251 West Lone Mountain Road. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Heart Association, or your preferred charity, are welcome.
