Russ grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After high school, Russ moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to attend Xavier University, where in 1987, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science degree and an Associate of Applied Science degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. As a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Russ thrived in his work environment, eventually rising to the position of manager. Russ left full-time employment in the funeral industry to attend culinary school in Cincinnati, where upon graduation, Russ and a classmate started what became a very successful catering business. All the while, Russ did not stray too far from funeral service, as he was the pre-need counselor for one funeral home and a trade embalmer for another. In 2012, Russ decided to follow his heart and move to Long Beach, California to be with and marry the love of his life. Russ obtained his Embalmer and Funeral Director licenses in California and worked for his husbands construction company while looking for a full time position in funeral service. Russ spent four years serving as the Managing Partner of White’s Funeral Home in Azusa, California bringing peace and comfort to all he served. A dream Russ and his husband, Larry G., had was to one day move to Las Vegas. This dream has come to fruition with becoming the Location Manager of Bunkers Mortuary. Russ has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1988 and has many years of experience in management. A main passion in his life has been caring for folks at a devastating time in their lives.
When not at work, Russ loves to cook, entertain friends, spend quiet time reading, doing oil pastels and spending as much time with his husband and their Shih Tzu, Daisy, as possible.
