Barbara Lee Gonce

Barbara Lee Gonce passed away on May 21st, 2022 in Las Vegas at the age of 82. She would have been 83 on the 9th of June. She was a loving wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Born in Cleveland Ohio, she was the first child of Walter and Natalie Schramm.

She spent her youth growing up in Evansville Indiana, along with her sister Karen.

While living in Salina Kansas, she began her banking career which lasted more than 30 years.

Barbara moved to Las Vegas in 1963, where she continued her career in banking, eventually becoming a branch manager for First Interstate Bank, which later became Wells Fargo.

Her love of animals led to a longtime professional career showing registered dogs with the American Kennel Club for clients. Barb traveled across the country to the many show circuits. She also raised and showed dogs of her own, earning many awards.

Later, she went on to raise Arabian horses as well and was an avid horse rider and successful competitor in Dressage riding.

She and her husband Sherman enjoyed taking many family trips to spend quality time with the kids. She delighted in her grandchildren and the opportunity to create a few adventures of her own with just them.

Sherman and Barbara fulfilled their dream of traveling internationally once she had retired. They even purchased a motorhome, which led to the opportunity to take many local trips around the Southwest, where they studied the history and enjoyed participating in many archeological digs. Barbara loved an adventure.

She traveled often, hiking with girlfriends to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, rafting the Colorado River, and taking cruises to numerous destinations.

However, the Pine Valley cabin was her favorite spot. There, she could relax in the peaceful meadow, go fishing or watch the seasons change.

Barbara is survived by her husband Richard Landspurg.

Children Sara (David) Courtney, Laura Gonce, Peter (Teri) Gonce, and Beth (Russell) Livingston.

She leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Brian Courtney, Craig Courtney, Elyse Jennings, Eric Jennings, Max Livingston, Noah Livingston, Isabella Livingston, Sam (Nathaniel) Nuckolls, and Grace Gonce.

Great Grandchildren, Hunter Courtney, Lillian Barta, Aspen Courtney, Jamison Jennings, and Lawson Livingston.

Sister Karen (Dean) Tinkler, nephews Kevin (Elaine) Tinkler, and Korey (Julie) Tinkler.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Gonce, and her father and mother.

Services will be held at Bunker Eden Vale Mortuary at 10:30 am on June 3rd, 2022.  Interment will follow at Bunker Memorial Gardens at noon.

She will be missed by many for her enthusiasm for life and all its adventures.
