Carol Ray Ewell, 80, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away September 23, 2021 at home from natural causes. She was born in Redding, California on October 19, 1940 the second born of Jeff Reid and Dorothy Elizabeth Sargent. She was raised by her Aunt Ray Masters and spent her childhood in Searchlight, Nevada and then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada as a teenager.
She graduated from Rancho High School where she met her future husband Lloyd Ewell.
She served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Scotland. Her mission President was David B. Haight, who later became an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed the opportunity to bring others unto Christ during her time serving as a missionary. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Ewell in the St. George temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They settled in the Las Vegas valley where they raised their 7 children and were very active in their faith. They were married for 58 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, worked several years for the Clark County School District, and spent much of her time in church callings and working with the Boy Scouts of America.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, as well as her beloved husband Lloyd Ewell. She is survived by her 7 children.
Stephen (Melanie) Ewell, of Henderson, David (Heidi) Ewell of Las Vegas, Brian (Jennifer) Ewell of Boulder City, Barry (Amy) Ewell of Henderson, Devin Ewell of Charlotte, NC, Jerry (Sarah) Ewell of Newberg, OR, Bonnie Bailey of Nashville, TN. As well as 31 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held, Friday October 1, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at 5800 Carl Ave, Las Vegas, NV, 89108. Viewing from 11:00am-11:30 am with the funeral service to begin at 12:00pm. Graveside services to follow at Bunkers Memory Gardens 7251 W. Lone Mountain Rd. Las Vegas, Nevada 89129
