Mary Isabelle (Marybelle) Vrang Russell, age 95, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2018. She was born on September 16, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Christion Vrang and Bridget Solon Vrang. During her childhood, Marybelle lived at numerous locations in Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona and California with her parents and younger sister Briminna. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California where she met her future husband James Russell and graduated in 1940. After graduation she attended San Jose State College and worked for the War Department in Long Beach. She married James L. Russell on December 24, 1944. From this union, they had three sons, Patrick, Michael and Daniel. While living in Long Beach, she attended Long Beach City College, earning an Associated Degree. Marybelle dearly loved Wyoming, from her childhood and again cherished the six years the family lived in Evanston, Wyoming before moving to Las Vegas in 1962. Her life was always centered around the Catholic Church and for over 49 years she has been a devout member of the St. Viator Catholic Community. Marybelle started running competitively at age 56. She competed in events of all distances including nine full marathons and was an active member of the Las Vegas Track Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Briminna and her husband James. Marybelle is survived by her sons Patrick (Nita), Michael (Barbara), Daniel (Jane), and seven grandchildren; James, Andrew and Kathleen; Rebecca and Sean; Mark and John; and eight great grand children. Rosary will be in the chapel at the St. Viator Catholic Community on Friday, June 22nd at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23rd at St. Viator Catholic Community, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Viator Catholic Community.
