Robert Paul Dobiesz passed away February 25, 2018 at Nathan Adelson Hospice with his wife Mary Ann by his side. Robert was born July 9, 1932 to Marie (Kulakowski) and Eugene Dobiesz in Detroit, Michigan. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951, and was a B-29 Flight Engineer and aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. During his 22 + year military career Bob was stationed at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska, Thule Greenland, Patrick AFB in Florida and Chanute AFB, Illinois prior to coming to Nellis AFB, Las Vegas in 1964. At Nellis AFB, he was an Electronic Tech Specialist for F-105, F-100 & F-111 Fighter Jet Simulators. After retiring from the USAF, Bob began working as a Maintenance Department electrician for the Clark County School District and retired again in 1993 after 20years of service. He was also on his Squadron Golf Team. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans-Henderson Chapter#12, and a volunteer for over 20 years at O’Callaghan Federal Hospital at Nellis AFB and, later at the new Veteran’s administration hospital in North Las Vegas. Bob was a past member of Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts during the 1980’s, where he raced Class 5 and Class 11 race cars competing in many a Mint 400 & SNORE 250 events and served on the SNORE Board of Directors. Bob also was a member of Spring Mountain Free Trappers Black Powder shooting club during the 1990’s. He was an excellent woodworker, and his other hobbies included camping, fishing in various locations in his motor home. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Norbert, and his daughter Debbie. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Mary Ann and daughter Marie, and sons Paul (Lois) and Michael (Jamie); and 8 grand-children and 16 great grand-children; brothers, Thomas (Jan) and Terrence ( Cheryl). As per his wishes, Robert will be cremated and his ashes placed at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, Nevada at 2pm on Friday, April 6, 2018.
