Steven Ray Del Frago

June 26, 1961 ~ February 10, 2021 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Tribute

Steven Ray Del Frago was born on June 26, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois to James Del Frago and Betty Robinson. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1967, Betty remarried to Johnnie Le Faivre and together they raised Steven and his older brother James.

Growing up, Steven enjoyed his summers in the great outdoors. His brother James recalls that some of their best memories together were made on the lake, tubing and swimming all day and laughing all night in the family camper. Steven was very playful, outgoing, and always full of life. He attended Western High School where he forged lifelong friendships, graduating in the Class of 1980.

In 1987, Steve married Olivia Benedict and together they had two children, Lauren and Dominic, whom he loved deeply. He was a very engaged and supportive father who proudly showed off the family photos he kept in his wallet. Taking the family on vacation, especially to Disneyland, was one of his favorite things to do, and it brought him great happiness. Lauren and Dominic were his pride and joy and "Dad" was his favorite title.

In his professional life, Steve was always known to be a hard worker and a natural in the hospitality industry. He began his career as a server and joined the casino business, working at properties like The Dunes, The Hacienda, and Palace Station before making it as a Doorman at The Mirage. He was at The Mirage from its opening in 1989 until 1998, when he moved on to open The Bellagio.

During his 23 years at The Bellagio, it became his second home. He could always be found in the driveway with his top hat on, his whistle at the ready, and a smile on his face. He loved his job not only because of all the great people he worked with but also because of all of the guests he met along the way. According to his work file, Steve was the reason many guests returned to The Bellagio. It's not hard to imagine why. From the moment he met someone he always demonstrated kindness and generosity. He was an amazing friend to many.

When Steve was not working he enjoyed entertaining and cooking for his family and friends, especially for holidays. He indulged in any excuse to decorate. From beautiful Christmas cottage collections to spooky Halloween decor, he put the best on display. He really knew how to entertain and would do just about anything to put a smile on your face. When he did relax, Steven would spend hours by the pool with his miniature schnauzers, Baxter & Kia. Steven had many dogs in his life, but he and Kia were inseparable. She was definitely his favorite.

Steven spent many years with his partner John Paul. Together they traveled and made happy memories. Steven had a joyousness he took with him everywhere. He was always the life of the party. He was a great dancer and was known to pull others out onto the floor with him. Steven loved to drive his Mercedes Benz fast with the windows rolled down and the music turned up. You always knew when he had arrived.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Steven Ray Del Frago passed away at the age of 59. Steven was a great son, brother, father, godfather and friend. We will miss his love, his laughter, his jokes, his smile, and his stubborn determination. He touched many people and we will forever hold him in our hearts.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, James Del Frago, and mother, Betty Le Faivre. He is survived by his father Johnnie (Franklin) Le Faivre, his two children Lauren and Dominic, his brother, James, his nephews and nieces, David (Amber), Ashley, Clinton, and his grandniece Natalia and grandnephew Logan
